Daniel B. Pleasant

Daniel B. Pleasant, ACP, CAS, is a Writer and Editor, a unique position at Rouda, Feder, Tietjen & McGuinn. Dan started writing professionally at age 14 when he was hired by his hometown newspaper, was a Marine officer, and has 16 years’ experience as a paralegal. He brings that diverse experience to his focus on writing mediation briefs, drafting motions and appellate briefs, and preparing cases for trial. His writing and editing skills are also instrumental to firm publication. Since he started working with McGuinn and Cooper in 2001, he has worked on over two dozen cases that resolved for at least one million dollars, including over 6 cases tried to verdict.

Dan was certified by the National Association of Legal Assistants in 2002 as a Certified Paralegal. He has also garnered advanced certification in Discovery, Trial Practice, and California Civil Procedure. He is a member of NALA, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice.

Dan was a high-school valedictorian and National Merit Scholar. He obtained his B.A. with highest honors in English and Drama/Speech from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. He attended law school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he earned American Jurisprudence Awards in Contracts and Torts and served on the editorial staff of the law review. After law school and graduation from the USMC’s Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA, he was sent to California, where he served as a Legal Officer. After his honorable discharge, he worked at a number of plaintiffs’ law firms before finding a home at Rouda, Feder, Tietjen & McGuinn.

Dan and his wife Michele make their home in Oakland. Dan enjoys golf, scuba diving, music, and travel.
